Time for a Change According to Some E-Mails
I’m working on a few ideas starting with today’s content
Hey Everyone!
The survey turned out the way I figured. Two people took it one voted to shut it down the other voted to keep it as is. A 50/50 split-not that good out of 75 readers.
But, on the other side a few readers emailed me and gave me their thoughts, which were basically keep the newsletter, but change the content to more news worthy stories.
So basically curt the fluff of things to do, see, eat and drinking, and give the news that isn’t being seen as much as it should.
Not sure about this font yet. I wanted this to look like a newspaper, but I don’t think this font captures that look. Thoughts?
So to fix the food stuff, I’m thinking of writing about that on our food newsletter DelPaggio’s Cucina. It fits there and. I do have some readers from places outside of California who ask for places to eat and drink. So that’s that.
As for Your Golden State, I’ve always have felt the urge to write more and cover a news story that needs more publicity, which I’ll be doing today to give you a preview.
I may change the name once again, and I’m thinking of making this newsletter more like a newspaper column, if that makes sense.
That’s where we are at as of today. Who knows what tomorrow will bring?
By the way I’m expecting many readers leaving this community and I understand. Some have come to rely on us for touristy stories, but sometimes things must change.
I’m sorry to see anyone leave, but I understand.
If you have any other ideas about what to cover, let me know at markjohn1@mac.com
Thanks and Be Well!

The News
The story I’m writing about today is one close to my heart. I worked with our two daughters for years with helping to homeschool the grandkids.
Both daughters started out using Charter Schools to home school the grandkids with me working as a teacher.
One funny story is at first when they were using Charter School to work with we had an issue come up with a teacher saying c opulence of the grand kids may nee some speech therapy due to the way they were mis pronounce it some words.
We went for a meeting and while there I spoke up as usual in my New England accent when the teacher looked at me and said there’s the issue.
If you know anything about New Englanders we tend to alleviate the “R” when speaking. I don’t know why, but the kids all had my accent.
Anyway, this story today is from the SF Gate writer Madilynne Medina concerning a child, Melodee Buzzard, a 9-year-old child who went missing a year ago in Santa Barbara.
Melodee was home schooled and seems to have been lost in a system that doesn’t check on home school as well as it should.
When one of our daughters decided to leave the Charter School network and open her own home school for the grandkids I found out just how much overseeing goes on. I’m afraid to say none.
Here’s Melodee’s story and I ask that you take a little time and read this and think about how many other kids might be in the same position.

The posts are both about the rally this weekend for “No Kings”, which is taking place all over the world. Talk about major support.
While I try to stay out of politics, even though I love to write about it, I feel at this very moment in time, in our world, we need this.
