Hey Friends!

I've been thinking about what content to post for paying subscribers.

I don't want to publish the same stuff I would post on regular editions of California Mishegoss since that wouldn't make sense, right?

With that in mind figuring out what to post makes it a little challenging.

So I decided that over the next few editions, I will experiment as M.G. Siegler has done with his newsletter 5ish, which seems to work for him. It may not work for me and this newsletter, but it's worth a shot.

Some stories of travel or food may not be of California, but they will be interesting. I promise to do my best.

I have a podcast in the works for California Mishegoss on Substack. What I haven't decided is who it will be for.

I considered making it private, but what about the other subscribers who have helped us grow?

See my dilemma?

The podcast would be either daily or a few days a week to give updates on the weather throughout California and places to dine, visit, and stay that I don't cover on Saturdays. I believe everyone should get that podcast.

So stay tuned and enjoy the experimenting. Make sure to let me know what is working for you. This newsletter is yours.

Thanks for your continued support.

Be Well! Stay Safe!

Anchor Employees Are Trying to Raise the Anchor

I posted a story in California Mishegoss #31 about Anchor Brewing being closed by its parent company Sapporo Brewing. Now employees are working to save their jobs and Anchor Brewing. Here’s from the SF Gate article.

In a statement, Anchor spokesperson Sam Singer said that a union spokesperson sent the company an email stating that "workers of Anchor Brewing have met, discussed, and decided to launch an effort to purchase the brewery." The union spokesperson added that the purchase is being pursued by an "unidentified group of Anchor employees," not the union itself, Singer said.

“Given our deep respect for the Anchor Union and our team members, should our employees put forward a bona-fide, legally binding offer to buy the Company, one that includes a verifiable source of funds, we would gladly consider it," Singer said.
