Saturday, July 6th
Hi Everyone!
What a way to kick off the first newsletter of July, with the 4th being a couple of days before. We're coming in with a bang and will hopefully go out with the same bang, except a little quieter.
As always, we thank you for reading and supporting the newsletter.
Have a great weekend and week!
Before I go, there was an email that went out courtesy of Substack that said there was a 20% discount. That was wrong. It is still and always remain a 40% discount!
Be Well! Stay Safe!

I know States always make lists throughout the year. Sometimes. Like back east, it's for the most potholes on any given street, or in the south, for the tornadoes and hurricanes ravaging most southern states.
Then there's a list California just made for the deadliest highways. For example, US101 and Interstate 15 are California's deadliest highways.
I know we're considered bad drivers, although after living in New York for years, drivers in California have nothing on us New York drivers, sorry California.
Greta Reich, Summer Intern for SF Gate, gives us the rundown on California highways and drivers.

The map you see above is from the National Weather Service, and it shows updated weather temps throughout the day in the Bay Area. I am sure they have maps for every city out there, but this one was in SF Gate the other day, and it's incredible to see what's happening in a city that usually has cooler summer months. That quote attributed to Mark Twain, supposedly contradicted by experts, says it well, "The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco."

How high are you willing to hike/climb to see exquisite views of San Francisco Bay and beyond?
If 338 feet was your pick, you're in luck.
The Panorama Park on Yerba Buena Island is now open and ready for your visit.
Talking about making a splash with improvements, Treasure Island and Yerba Buena Park have the proud distinction of bragging rights.
Cate Peters, Summer Intern for SF Gate, has all the details.

I know I should be more thoughtful about posting about Disney, but to be honest, I have a soft spot for Knott's Berry Farm, as it was the first theme park I visited as a kid when we visited family in California. If I'm correct, I was seven. We went here first and Disneyland second, which was different than it is today. It wasn't as hard to get on rides.
Knott’s Berry Farm was the cat's meow. I even had gold dust from panning for gold in a tough while there.
It had cowboys and Indians. It had a stunt show and a stagecoach ride that was better than the Matterhorn as far as I was concerned.
After six months of renovations, it looks like Knott's is back and ready for visitors, so get on your horse and get there, pardner.
Make sure to visit Camp Snoopy. They didn’t have that when I visited. guess I need to go back!
Julie Tremaine, Theme Park Contributing Editor for SF Gate, has the complete story.

I'd be remiss if I forgot about my adopted hometown of Fresno. As always, many activities are going on throughout the Fourth of July weekend.
