Hi Friends!
Welcome to California Surf & Turf. While the name will bring up visions of steak and seafood, we felt it describes the stories we cover for you each week. Stories of the ocean, beachfront spots to wine, dine, and hang out—mountains to view and climb, and deserts to enjoy. Of course, let’s not forget the great hiking available in California. So California Surf & Turf fits perfectly.
Enjoy your Saturday Read!

Imagine spending $10 million to restore a lake. That's what happened at Golden Gate Park and Middle Lake.
I once visited Middle Lake in San Francisco and walked around Golden Gate Park. It was impressive then, but now they made it even better.
They've added signs with QR codes for visitors to scan and get details about the lake and walking paths around it.
One hundred and fifty trees have been planted around the lake, and there is much more to tell you about, but I'll let Madilynne Medina, News Reporter for SF Gate, give you all the information in her article.

I've visited Capitola a few times with Patti and the family. It's become one of my favorite seaside spots to hang out.
I could brag about the seafood, the views from the restaurants and walks around town, the stores where whatever you're thinking about getting they have, and the people who are friendly and helpful when getting lost as we did one time.
I could go on and on about Capitola, but I will turn this over to Tessa McLean, California Editor, for SF Gate.

What's better than taking a twilight stroll through the gardens? I have the answer from The Huntington Library in their own words.
The Huntington Library, Art Museum, and Botanical Gardens is opening evening access to its Twilight Garden Strolls hours during the summer months so more people can enjoy the gardens in cooler temperatures. Previously, only members could get tickets to the special program.
But here's Julia Paskin from LAIst with the entire story.

What's a Saturday without the news from FresYes as to what's happening in and around Fresno?
I want to apologize to our readers that many of the events this weekend are on Friday, July 26, so you'll miss out on them. Sorry. Maybe I'll start publishing the newsletter sooner than Saturday so you have time to plan. Thursday may be a good day. Any thoughts?
Here’s the happenings from the FresYes Writing Team

There's more to Dodger Stadium than baseball, dugouts, right and left fields, bullpens, and the locker rooms.
Inside the visitor's bullpen sits a speakeasy you'll never regret visiting.
Here's Bill Edelstein for Los Angeles Magazine with the inside pitch.
As someone who has never been to California but desperately wishes they could, I'm saving this for the ever-imagined trip. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks Mark
