Finally, it's here. The first issue for paid subscribers of Shoot the Breeze—a newsletter to keep you updated in between issues of California Mishegoss.

It won't be a newsletter that will inundate your inbox, either. It'll only show up when there are some time-sensitive activities or news we feel you should know that possibly don't fit the content of California Mishegoss.

We may post videos, audio about a story, or a short podcast, from time to time that is in conjunction with written stories in the newsletter.

It's an experiment, so be prepared for changes all the time. I learned from one of our readers, supporters, and experimenter guru in newsletters whom I admire, M.G. Siegler, that experimenting can be good for the publisher and the reader.

From the Newsletter Festival Pass

Here are some of the things that are going on around California, including the Cruel World Festival in Pasadena. There is also a livestream planned with the Foo Fighters on Sunday, May 21.

It's finally here! The annual Cruel World Festival will be back at Brookside at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena on Saturday with Siouxsie, Iggy Pop, Billy Idol, The Human League, Adam Ant and many more. 

Last year's event was a scorcher that had all the fans dressed in black, very drenched in sweat. This year, it looks like it's going to be a comfortable 78-80 degrees on the sprawling grassy grounds. Festival promoters Goldenvoice put a limited number of Cruel World passes on sale when they announced the set times for the show earlier this week.
