When I first moved to Fresno a friend took me to see the Tower Theater. They claimed I would love the styling being from the East Coast. Didn’t know what that meant, but the style was grand.
Since that day I’ve been to the theater for meeting, and concerts. Each time I learned something new about the theater from the friends that I was meeting there and from the staff themselves.
I had a great time seeing Jimmy Messina from Loggins and Messina there when he made a stop in Fresno. We had back stage passes, met Jimmy, his dauber and wife and the band. It was a great night and the coziness of the theater made it even more special.
Here’s more about it.

Unless you’re into surfing this story may not be of interest.
But, being that I was an avid surfer back in the day, thanks to my Dad, and have actually surfed a Wedge Wave ( a scary and dangerous wave) back on Cape Cod one summer. I wanted to post this story.

When I started college I got a job working on the college newspaper as a photographer. I already had been playing around with black and white photos after seeing some of Ansel Adams work in Yosemite.
I stayed a photographer for the paper even after becoming editor of the newspaper. Rough doing two things at once.
The thing was I always wondered what it would be like to be in the camer instead of behind it. Even using 4x5 cameras or 8x10 it wasn’t enough. I wanted to be inside the mechanics of a camera.
Well thanks to some creatives, you have your chance.

National Parks should be free of vandals where it’s the natural elements within the park or the plaques and other novelties like statues and insects. Yes, insects.
A California National Park has a serious theft problem and it is only getting worse.
In 2024, the National Association for Interpretation honored Save the Redwoods League and Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park with its top Interpretive Media Award for the trail’s creative displays: bronze sculptures of martens, banana slugs and other symbols of the region’s ecology and Indigenous heritage.

It’s time for the best things to do in LA this coming weekend.
I know I need to get a list of things to do in San Francisco and I will work on that for next weekend, promise.
