Let’s Get Into Today’s Stuff
1. Hamburgers!
When you think of hamburgers, what are the first thoughts that cross your mind? Medium, rare, well done, or maybe ketchup, mustard, relish onion raw or grilled, and maybe for crunchiness, fried onion rings?
Well, what about this:
Rich. Decadent. Luxurious. Not words typically associated with a burgerjoint, but they are the best descriptors for Matt Horn’s new Oakland burger restaurant, Matty’s Old Fashioned, per SFGate and Nico-Madrigal-Yankowski.
The Old Oakland spot at 464 8th St. is a full-service, sit-down restaurant touting elevated diner classics. Think double patties of proprietary blend dry-aged beef; a seafood dip and beef tartare with cured yolk — each with a price tag of $18 or more. Matty’s Old Fashioned is the chef-restaurateur’s third Oakland concept, after Horn Barbecue and Kowbird. There is also a Kowbird in Las Vegas.
2. Looking For The Right Owner or Owners to Purchase One Petrified Forest in Sonoma, California
In 1914, Ollie Bockee purchased the land, reimagining the space as a public attraction. It’s stayed in the family ever since, and more than 100 years later, it’s owned by Bockee’s great nieces, Janet Angell and her sister Barbara. The duo have been managing the property since 2010 and are now ready to retire.Â
3. Last Chance in Los Angeles to Enjoy Outdoor Movies This Season
This summer, Cinespia provided Angelenos with thrills, chills, and everything in between for what proved to be a thoroughly entertaining lineup. Now, the famed outdoor cinema screening organization will be closing out its 22nd summer season with more classics.
The month kicks off with The Devil Wears Prada on Sep 2 followed by The Goonies on Sep 3. The weekend after brings Wes Anderson’s classic, The Royal Tenenbaums, on Sep 9, and Brian De Palma’s Scarface on Sep 16.
A little shameless promotion, hope you don’t mind?
My Recipe for a Summer Tomato Sauce While Tomatoes Are in Season
Heat some EVOO(extra-virgin olive oil) in a pan, and when it begins shimmering, add your sliced or however, you enjoy garlic to the oil. See, I told you this is about your imagination, not mine.
Suppose you want a little or very spicy; add some red pepper flakes or whatever spicy ingredient you envision with this dish. Jalapeno or Fresno pepper seeds are good, or use your imagination.
You could add anchovies if you want more depth to your sauce, or go with basil, salt, and pepper as I do. It's up to you.

5. An Ultimate Vegan Food tour From Up North to Down South
Foggy coastlines and sandy beaches. Towering redwoods and vineyard-covered hills. Historic vistas and swaying palm trees. California’s coast is world-renowned for its diverse landscapes and jaw-dropping cliffs that give way to the stunning Pacific Ocean. This summer, skip the international jet setting, hop in the car, and take a vegan food tour of this stretch of roadway that winds from the quiet and misty town of Mendocino to bustling and sunny San Diego.
6. From SF Gate: There Is a Beautiful Fort in San Francisco That You Should Visit
There are 1,491 acres to explore at the Presidio. Despite this, most visits start the same way: gaping at the views. Depending on where you're standing, you can see the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, forests, downtown San Francisco, the Bay and the ocean. Once you've given yourself a chance to take it all in, you're ready for a day at the park.
The Presidio Tunnel Tops opened to much anticipation in the summer of 2022, transforming the area above the Presidio Parkway Tunnels into a 14-acre park that connects the Presidio's Main Post to Crissy Field. Colorful gardens and paved, accessible parkways are interspersed with wide green lawns and scenic overlooks (complete with chairs and benches so you can take a load off while you soak in some of the best views in all of San Francisco).Â
