I never thought visiting a prison would be fun, but years ago, when I was in San Francisco for business, I had the opportunity to visit Alcatraz. It wasn’t just about the history of the prison but also all of the inmates and guards who had lived there in the past. If you are planning a trip in the future, here’s more information for you to know.
Fresno always has great stuff happening on the weekends, and I don’t cover it enough, but my local favorite newsletter FresYes covers everything that’s happening in Fresno and surrounding areas. Here’s a taste that I’ll be adding to this newsletter. Thanks to Jason and the team at FresYes! Here’s the link!
Wondering about the best time of the year to visit California? Here’s a Month-by-Month guide from California.com, highlighting attractions, events, and activities that make California, California. Here’s the link to check them out.
Our Grandkids are Boba experts. They can better give us exact directions to each location locally than they can provide directions to their respective schools. I think they secretly have ownership or are trying to buy these spots since they spend all their hard-earned allowance on Boba. Here’s a guide to 7 of the best spots.
Our son is a gamer, and so aren’t all our grandkids. I’ve never been one to game; even though I always talk about it, I’ve never given it a shot. Except there was this time my son was trying to get me involved with a shooter game, and I just kept shooting him whenever I got the chance. He told me that wasn’t the object of the game. So much for gaming. For those that are interested in gaming, here are 5 California spots for the gamer inside.”
“This isn’t a horror museum,” stated JD Healy, owner of the Museum of Death. “We’re not looking to scare people.” Now that covid has died down the museum is once again open to the public to learn more about death. I’m sure the interior described in this article is even more intimidating in real life. Check it out and let us know.
I give credit to everyone who has ever zipped lined. I tried it years ago, in a day and age when the zip lines weren’t as supportive as they are now, and I convinced myself never to do this again. Things have changed, and I believe ziplining is much safer now, although it still isn’t on my bucket list. If you are into it or want to try it, here you go. The 5 exciting adventures in California.
I enjoy visiting, finding, and hanging out in small towns like the kinds on the east coast that I am accustomed to. When I moved here, I set out to find some of the smallest beach towns around and found a few that I enjoy. Here’s a list of the 11 coolest small towns in California to visit this summer. My favorites are Pismo Beach (listed) and Cayucos (not listed).
As a kid, I loved star gazing. I remember how relaxing it was to stare at the stars. My Dad was a huge stargazer and would spend hours with me looking through our telescopes at home. I haven't done it for years, usually because I didn't make the time. Maybe it's something we need now? Anyway, if you are a star gazer or want to try it out, here's a place to give it your best shot.
Our newsletter wouldn't be complete without mentioning food, so here are the best Burritos in California (Los Angeles, San Francisco, and San Diego), according to Eater.com. We'll let you be the judge. Make sure to let us know your opinions.
That’s a wrap for this edition…
One Last Thing…
We hope you enjoyed this week's California Mishegoss, even though it was calorie-laden. Maybe it's what the good doctor ordered; then, maybe not.
Either way, enjoy your weekend and the week ahead.
Check out our food newsletter DelPaggio's Cucina, if you have a moment. It's full of some great homemade recipes you may enjoy!
