#57: Some Spots to Think About This Weekend
Hey Friends!
And we’re back! Winter storms are hitting the entire country hard. Even here in the Central Valley and other areas in California, the weekend is expected to be horrible.
By horrible I’m talking rain, rain, and more rain, but being from the east coast, I enjoy a good weekend of rain to relax. My advice become an east coaster for the weekend, relax, and read where you need to go when the weather breaks.

Located at 1023 Terra Nova Blvd. in Pacifica, Upper Crust Deli is among a cluster of local businesses found within Park Mall Center. The shopping strip is discreet, to say the least, but if you don’t slow down, you might miss out on killer subs priced between $10 and $13.
“People stumble in here not knowing what they’re going to get, but they decide to give it a shot and they come back,” owner Ray Gheith told SFGATE

In May of 2021, I was the first journalist to report on the gaggle of chaotic California Condors — an endangered species of vulture, which number less than 200 in the wild — that had descended on Cinda Mickols’ back patio. The dozen-plus birds (with wingspans as wide as 9ft) continued to visit and vibe around Mickols’ property, albeit less frequently, causing all manner of chaos.
Because of the beauty that was then-Twitter, her daughter — Seana Lynn — had helped us all “Keep Up with the Condors” amid their continuing antics. As Lynn pointed out in one tweet: The condors likely realized ‘Hey this place is great! We can stay here at night and then surf the wind to find food during the day and know we can always catch a wave home. Plus it has a sweet deck to party on!’

I'm not a wine drinker, but I enjoy touring the wine producing areas of California, especially Temecula. That area is so pretty and I enjoyed a good Indian casino once in a while when I lived in Southern California. I've only been to the Napa (did the wine tours) and Calistoga area for sprint car races. I may have to take a wine country tour on my next trip to California.
